Links - Stereotypes

This site gives basic information on stereotypes such as, what they are, why they matter, their benefits and drawbacks, and how to prevent them. The word stereotype carries a negative connotation. The author of the website, Heidi Burgess, reveals that stereotypes can help people. She argues that in order to be able to interact effectively, people must have some idea of what others are likely to be like. This point of view is not what normally comes to mind, but it opens a viewpoint that may have not existed before.

The article “Breaking Racial Stereotypes by Reconstructing Multicultural Education,” tells the story of a young black boy and how he was judged just by the color of his skin. Even though teachers must move beyond the limits of race, Pete Pullen found a way to create multicultural education. Pullen implemented actions to help “qualified” people of color advance. He added programs that ensured equality in educational systems such as a fair legal system.

Links - Stereotypes

This website gives ways that people can stop offending others. If more people realize when they are discriminating against someone and stop themselves, then violence and racial problems will decrease. This site gives the top five ways to catch and fix avoiding offending another race. If people start to think before they speak, less violence will occur and the barrier of racial stereotypes will break down.

I really like how you addressed how big the racial stereotyping problem is in America. The graph really brings a realization of how inequality still exists.
I also like how you have a link that tries to give ideas to solve the problems.
